When Lauryn Hill herself asked me to put together visuals for her son YG Marley’s live performance of John in the Moonlight at Chicago’s United Center, I knew it was a moment. She considered it one of his best performances, and wanted me to highlight it on video. That song went on to explode topping charts, with tens of millions of streams and positioning YG as Bob Marley’s grandson carrying a new flame. For me, it was more than work it was a blessing, a chance to be trusted by Ms. Hill and by default, catch a break and ride with the next generation of reggae royalty. Being part of YG’s story so early, when the world was just starting to recognize his superstar shine, was a fortune I don’t take lightly.
