LA TRIBU DE ABRANTE

Working with La Tribu de Abrante was one of the most special projects I’ve ever been part of. They’re not just a band— hey’re the living, breathing spirit of Afro Puerto Rican bomba, a rhythm and tradition that’s been passed down for generations.

I had the honor of joining them for a tour across Puerto Rico, capturing the energy of what they do best: bringing music, culture, and community straight to the people. During Navidades, it’s tradition for groups like La Tribu to travel the island, stopping in small pubs, bars, and street corners, turning every space into a celebration. It’s a living festival of drums, voices, and roots, connecting the island to its African heritage.

Being on that tour, documenting the joy and pride they sparked, felt less like work and more like being invited into the heartbeat of Puerto Rico. With La Tribu de Abrante, bomba isn’t just music it’s memory, resistance, and pure Boricua soul.
